aktion

Material: 100 meters of black satin double sided berisfold 7 mm width ribbon, No. 15 Swann-Morton sterile disposable scalpel (retractable).

Action: Head is wrapped in ribbon, the body breathes, the ribbon and flesh is cut and ribbon hangs as a garland as the body bleeds profusely.

Context: The locus of identity is obscured & dissected in an action that highlights the perception of subject & object.

Originally this was performed in full as part of Traces of Being, elements of Aktion were then exhibited as part of The Lived Body series and SELF/s Portrait. A performance for camera has been shown in full as a video installation within [RE]authoring through Sacrifice and as stand alone work artwork at Tempting Failure in 2013.
